For a comprehensive DBT program the following components are done concurrently:
DBT Therapy in Atlanta, Ga
WEEKLY INDIVIDUAL |
Individual therapy sessions will be the cornerstone of their work in our DBT program. Behavioral therapy will be tailored to their specific goals and needs. Weekly sessions are held concurrently with the Skills Training Group.
|
SKILLS TRAINING |
Skills group will enhance your teen's capabilities by teaching behavioral skills and assigning practice homework. Groups meet weekly and take 24 weeks to get through the full skills curriculum. The full cycle is then repeated to make this a one-year program. Click here for group skills schedule.

|
PHONE COACHING |
Your teen will utilize phone coaching to receive out-of-session support to help cope with difficult situations that may arise in daily life. This will generalize what they are learning in individual and group sessions into their daily life. Your teen will have access to their individual therapist in between sessions to help implement skills.
|
DBT THERAPIST |
Your teen's individual therapist will be meeting weekly with the consultation team to consult on how to implement the best treatment possible for your child. For information on the DBT team members please click here
|
PARENT CLASS |
We require that at least one caregiver participates in the 9-week Parent Skills Group at the onset of your child entering the program. You will be enrolled in the next upcoming session of this group upon your teen's acceptance in the program.
You will be learning and practicing specific skills to decrease family distress and increase effectiveness at home. This class will provide family members an understanding of behavioral patterns in themselves and their distressed teen; encourage the contributions of all family members to a mutually validating environment; and address the need to improve skills in all family members. PARENT COACHING |
Once the Parent Skills Group has been completed, parents could also benefit from individualized sessions with a Parent Coach. This is most often offered by the leaders of the Parent Skills Group, so you may already be familiar and comfortable with a particular clinician. This consists of as-needed sessions and the ability to utilize phone coaching to help encourage proactive skills utilization instead of a crisis-oriented approach. This component is optional.

SKILLS TRAINING GROUP
Skills group will enhance your teens ability to be open, flexible and ability to build and maintain social connectedness. RODBT teaches and encourages clients to be more willing to try new things, be more adaptable to change, and be open and receptive to feedback thus decreasing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and over-control.
